What are the expectations of the Recruiter when approached by the Job Seeker?

Dave Seddon is a Recruiter, Coach and serial Networker who takes a personal and relationship-based approach to working with individuals looking for their next role or working with major clients to find key roles. He has gained over 30 years in the IT Industry across a wide spectrum of senior roles. Dave firmly believes in treating people as people, and has worked with Multinationals and small businesses. This experience empowered him to make the move to start his own ethically and people lead business – Alpha Group. It has taken a relationship led approach to both candidates and clients and it works – so much so that he always needs more candidates for unfulfilled roles.
The business was founded on putting something back into society and hence gives 10% of its annual profit to good causes and charities. It is about maintaining integrity, being respectful, investing in openness and doing the right thing in business, not doing something just for money. He happily leaves others to do that.
Dave puts in to perspective the importance of engaging recruiters in your job search process as one of your many routes to market. It is not to say that your next role will be secured via a recruiter, BUT, if you choose not to utilise their valuable services, by definition you are also choosing to negate them from a proactive job search campaign.
Recruiters can get an undeservedly bad name when communication is not what the job hunter is expecting. We must remember throughout this process that the client is always paying the fee, the candidate does not pay a penny….. and to endorse Careers Springboard’s values and vision for its members, the job hunter should indeed never pay an organisation to search for a role on their behalf.
Dave’s presentation will focus on how the candidate should engage with a recruiter to leverage most from the relationship and ensure a positive outcome.
