Get the 60 second Tell Me About Yourself right! How to polish your response to this frequent and important interview question
‘Tell Me About Yourself’ (TMAY) is one of the most common interview questions. At Careers Springboard we encourage our members to prepare a number of TMAYs for their toolkit a 30 second and 1 minute version. You can also prepare a 2 minute version.
In preparation of your own TMAY pitch, you already know who you are, then adding to that you should include what you do (your role, position, organisation, perspective of scale), and then what you do better (reflects your skills, experience and the value added part), in other words – the key attributes that make you stand out and will give you the edge over your competition.

Before I attended Stephen’s TMAY session I dreaded answering the ‘Tell Me About Yourself’ question! I lacked confidence in how to present my skills and achievements. Stephen’s approach is simple, but effective. I was nervous about practicing my own TMAY in the session, but it really helped. Stephen has delivered his compelling talk on TMAY (Tell Me About Yourself) for several years. The clarity, factual and succinct delivery of Stephen’s pitch, interspersed with appropriate pauses creates significant IMPACT for his audience.
Stephen secured an MBA in Finance and Marketing at Indiana University, and has fulfilled a number of senior positions throughout his career. Roles include; Business Group Manager at QinetiQ Group Ltd, Director for Strategic Business Development whilst engaged with the International Bureau of Aviation, and Client Engagement Director for France, Nordics and UK at CPA Global. Stephen is currently working as a Growth Account Manager EMEA for JW Player.
