June 29 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Get the 60 second TMAY right! How to polish your response to this frequent and important interview question
Presenter: Diane Richardson (Volunteer)
Diane Richardson is a public speaker and brand change management consultant. She has a wealth of experience supporting businesses to improve their organisation and brand reputation, and has previously engaged with Amnesty International to transform their brand and communications strategy. She achieved this whilst remodelling their entire communications process towards strong global and local B to C relationships.
The subject of TMAY (Tell Me About Yourself) is a vital tool which all job hunters should have in their toolkit. This is the opportunity where you will be expected to sell yourself highlighting your relevant experience and in a succinct manner. It is therefore really important to get it right and to create the best version of yourself for that ‘on-stage’ moment. When a situation arises where one of your 3x TMAYs: 30 second, 1 minute or 2 minute versions could be used as your pitch, it is a very quick decision that you will make around which one you will deploy. This will be dependent on a variety of factors including: who you are about to speak to, the environment or location where the conversation is about to take place, and how much time you and the other person might have available. This is not an exhaustive list.
The content of any TMAY must be well rehearsed and internalised to the point where it is balanced between sounding scripted and appearing disjointed in its delivery.
Diane will keep members in check regarding timing as she ‘blows the whistle’ to prompt the change from one person to the next to deliver their compelling TMAY.
