The ‘Tell Me About Yourself’ (TMAY) question is often the introductory question in job interviews. Although intended to be an easy start for candidates, many find it challenging due to inadequate preparation and nerves.

• The goal of preparing for TMAY is to commence the interview on a strong note, thereby differentiating oneself from other candidates who may not be as prepared.
• Responding to this question with confidence and clarity establishes a positive atmosphere for the remainder of the interview, benefiting both the interviewer(s) and the applicant.
• A confident beginning can help alleviate initial nervousness for candidates, so they gain confidence for the remainder of the interview.
