Former members sharing tips on how they were successful finding new roles.

Simona Cara

Simona joined Careers Springboard in 2020, coming in at a time when job posts were receiving hundreds of applications within the first hours of being publicly posted. In that employer’s market, Simona found Careers Springboard to be just what she needed to break through the barriers that she had been facing for months before joining.

Her background in large-scale high-profile digital transformation programmes spans multiple geographies and sectors, including Technology, Finance, Transportation, Mining and Public Sector. Simona is a licenced Professional Engineer in Canada with a Masters of Business Administration and has worked for leading companies, such as Vale (mining giant), TD Bank, PwC (Big Four consulting firm), and Diageo (leading beverage alcohol company). She has been a long term executive board member for the Management and Economics Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, and recently has become a school governor for the Butlers Court School.

She will be sharing her journey of looking for work and finally securing her current contract in the fraud prevention sector. Simona wants others to reap the benefits that Careers Springboard brought to her job search.

Oyvind Helgerud

Oyvind is a Platform Project Manager at Elekta, and was an active member of Careers Springboard during 2020. He has continued to support the charity by acting as Chair for events this and last year.

He has fulfilled multiple project manager roles throughout his career – especially in the aviation industry – and is representative of people who have switched to a different industry as a direct result of the Covid pandemic.

In this event Oyvind explains what made an industry change the most likely outcome in his situation. He also covers the experience he has gained working with recruiters outside his industry, as well as interview preparation, interview experience and feedback received from these organisations.

Finally, he shares the journey he encountered when securing his current job along with the experiences gained so far.

Martin Godden

Martin Godden has over 20 years experience as a Sales Professional, working mainly within the FMCG arena with blue chip global brands. He has worked with the majority of retailers in the UK during this time, as well as spending 10 years working internationally managing relationships with some of the biggest global retailers including Tesco and A.S.Watson.

Outside of work his passion is music and playing the guitar, and he plays regular gigs in a classic rock covers band, as well as keeping active and fit.

His most recent role is UK Sales Director for an environment enhancement products company, Pelsis Ltd, where he leads the UK Sales and Customer Service teams, as well as some ROW markets.
