SUMMARY:Monday 8th Feb – Webinar: Linkedin - Getting the Best out of this Essential Tool
DESCRIPTION:It should be a matter of fact in 2021 that possessing a LinkedIn profile is the ‘norm’ for those working in the majority of industry sectors.  The LinkedIn social media platform can be nurtured sufficiently to differentiate you from your competitors whilst ensuring that you stand out. \nThere are key attributes which must be included and maintained accordingly to ensure that YOU are found in key searches fulfilled by recruiters and organisations seeking to hire.  \n\nThe LinkedIn algorithm will identify your profile in the top ‘X’ (number) within a search if the criteria being searched for matches with your profile. \nIt is very important to remember that once your profile has been created\, this is just the start of your journey and not the end.  To remain effective\, a profile must be maintained with content added\, altered and even sometimes removed (if you choose) to ensure that it reflects your current status. \nDid you know that a section called ‘Featured’ was introduced last year where multimedia elements can be included.? \nPresenter: Sue Smith (Lead Consultant – LJ Branch & Associates Ltd)\nAs an experienced career coach\, Sue has supported many clients over the last 10 years with their career transition.  She has consulted across many industries\, spanning the Public and Private sectors\, with clients ranging from Senior Directors to Manufacturing Operatives. \nHer supportive\, collaborative style helps clients to identify what is important to them\, recognise their key drivers and motivators and gain clarity of their career objectives. Sue is passionate about partnering individuals to be the best they can and to realise their full career potential.\n \nSpecialist areas include:  \n\nCareer coaching and career transition \nLinkedIn and social media \nInterviews \nWorkshop facilitation \nNetworking \nPerformance Management \nTeam Development\n\nWe look forward to welcoming Sue on Monday evening to share her expertise and impart to the audience the latest tools and techniques that we clearly need to be aware of whilst we manage our LinkedIn profiles and keep them up to date. \nTo join the webinar you need to be a Careers Springboard member. SUMMARY:Monday 25th Jan – Webinar: Building a Winning CV
DESCRIPTION:This event will help you to develop an award-winning CV.  The dictionary definition of this is simply “A CV that gets you to interview”. Once at interview\, it’s a working document forming a potential agenda for the meeting.  So\, it’s a critical and dynamic document. \nWhilst there are different versions of CV that Julie will mention\, at Careers Springboard our main focus has been to concentrate on the reverse chronological format\, which has generally been the more popular version that job hunters adopt when they are searching for another position.  This version is also well established and recognised in the market place too.  Our members will be taken through the good and the not so good of CV creation\, which will no doubt show a stark contrast about what helps to sell YOU and what items do not add value. \nJulie will speak in detail about the content and suggested approach that is recommended for each section\, enabling you to perfect your own document and increase your chances of converting more job applications to an interview. \nPresenter: Julie Hodgson (Presentation Skills Specialist)\n\nJulie Hodgson is a Coach who specialises in speaking skills.  Amongst her various roles\, she fulfilled the position of Regional Training Manager for Black Horse Agencies and Bradford & Bingley estate agents.  Julie then joined Spicerhaart as a Divisional Training Manager for 12 years followed by an 18 month period as Regional Training & Business Manager. \nMore recently\, Julie assumed the role of Senior Learning & Development Specialist at Haart\, which was her last engagement as an employee. \nFor the last 3 years\, Julie has been running her own business in communication and presentation coaching and is based in Maidenhead.  She coaches and mentors senior managers and trainers\, and delivers leadership programmes to improve the motivation and effectiveness of staff.  In addition\, Julie engages in recruitment and selection and provides coaching observation and feedback. \nShe is a member of Toastmasters and is also an international speaker and is very proud to have delivered her Presentation Skills course to pupils at a Girls Charity School in India. \nTo join the webinar you need to be a Careers Springboard member. Register for free now. If you are an existing member you will receive the Zoom link in the weekly e-newsletter. \n[maxbutton id=”1″ ]

SUMMARY:Monday 18th Jan – Webinar: Get to know your Transferable Skills
DESCRIPTION:Identify your key assets\, realise your true value. Discover hidden talents & create your key skills profile as the basis for your job search. The session focuses on the importance of your skills to a prospective employer and presents a powerful way of finding and prioritising them. \nThis interactive session involves small breakout groups of three. It allows you to identify and share your skills through story telling around your business experiences and achievements. The breakout group members will identify the skills that have surfaced via your story telling\, expanding on these by asking questions. \nWhilst the thought of sharing your achievements in a breakout room might cause anxiety\, it’s a really positive experience. You will leave the session with a greater focus around what you can do and accomplish successfully. \nIf you have time before the session\, practise your story to ensure it has sufficient detail to bring out the key information. If it’s too long however\, the impact on the listener may reduce as well as their attention! \nPresenter: Mike Kavanagh\n\nMike is retired now. He started as an engineer\, focussing on software systems and worked in variety areas such as Civil Engineering\, Aeronautics and Petroleum. Then as an IT consultant worked in other sectors such as insurance & banking. \nMore recently Mike’s work involved helping organisations to effectively use video and other digital media. Having worked at a time of great change in all areas of business he recognises that we all need to keep updating to stay involved and remain competitive in the business world. \nMike first came to Careers Springboard to look for work. He found the Transferable Skills session a particularly useful aid to his job seeking\, and was delighted to begin to present this session when the opportunity arose. \nTo join the webinar you need to be a Careers Springboard member. SUMMARY:Monday 11th Jan – Webinar: Success is an Inside Job
DESCRIPTION:Standing up to your Inner Critic\nIt’s common to lose confidence when things aren’t going your way\, to start doubting and second-guessing yourself and all of your decisions. \nDeep down we know this doesn’t help\, it doesn’t move us forward towards our goals. So why do we do it? How do we stop? \nWhen you want something to change\, you need to do something different. \nRemember That You’re Remarkable\nI am sure\, you like me\, are well aware of all the things we can do to improve our productivity. Block Time\, deadlines\, prioritisation\, planning in advance. These are all things we can read about\, we can learn\, and we can enact to improve our chances of success. But how much time are you spending honing your inner skills? \nWhen did you last stop ruminating about where you are\, what’s gone wrong and instead recite all of the reasons why you’re special? When did you last write a list of the exceptional skills and wonderful experiences that you have to offer to prospective employers? I’m not talking about an artfully crafted CV. I am talking about a list just for you\, of why you are great…. \nHave you ever noticed how much kinder\, more generous\, more forgiving you are to other people than you are to yourself? And yet we are the most important person in our own lives. The words we hear inside our own heads over time have the biggest impact on what we do\, what we feel and who we are. \nIn this powerful psychology mastery workshop we will be looking at three areas in particular \n\nThe power of open questions\nThe 1% rule and how it applies to you\nHow and why to celebrate\n\nPresenter: Alison O’Dornan (Certified High Performance Coach)\nAlison is a former Chief Investment Officer on a mission to create a culture where people know and value themselves. All too often success is measured by status\, career progression\, and money\, whilst the journey is forgotten. Yet evidence shows that when we pursue personal growth and happiness with as much dedication and enthusiasm as ‘success’ the benefits are immense. \nAlison is a certified High Performance coach and NLP practitioner who mentors and runs workshops for business leaders and executives looking to develop advanced strategies in leadership\, influence and communication. \nTo join the webinar you need to be a Careers Springboard member.
