SUMMARY:Monday 14th Jun – Webinar: LinkedIn – A Winning Profile!
DESCRIPTION:Helping individuals and companies use LinkedIn effectively with customised training \nIn the current environment\, we need to be using all of the tools at our disposal and LinkedIn is definitely up there in terms of relevance – not least because it is a favourite haunt of recruiters too as part of their hiring activities. \nWe will try to look at LinkedIn not just from the perspective of an online CV but as an active tool to help you tap into the hidden opportunities which exist in the marketplace and within your own network. \nWe will touch on the Profile – and the two key audiences it needs to appeal to – but then turn our attention to proactive job seeking\, approaching recruiters and potential target companies\, how to market yourself and ways to make yourself more visible on the site – not just in search but where it really matters. \nHopefully\, you should leave the session with ideas about how to up the ante with regards to your profile\, how to find and engage with the people who should know about you and also how to raise your profile\, whatever your specialism. \nPresenter: Mark White (The Linkedin Professional)\n\nAfter a 10 year career in international sales & marketing \, Mark has dedicated the last 10 years exclusively to working and training around LinkedIn\, and he has delivered in-house training to over 420 companies with the focus primarily around business development\, marketing and recruitment. \nTo join the webinar you need to be a Careers Springboard member. SUMMARY:Monday 10th May – Webinar: Maintaining & Boosting Confidence & Momentum
DESCRIPTION:Past member’s experience – Practical techniques to reduce the negative impact of stress on your job search and boost your morale \nDave Everitt has been a member of Careers Springboard since 2009\, and despite being “laid off “five times since 2008 has sustained or increased career hunting momentum.  A graduate in Electronics and Ferranti Student of the Year in 1983\, Charted Engineer in 1987\, a electronics design engineer who went on to work for AMD for 22 years before the mayhem of 2008 hit. Then tried consulting\, contracting\, Intel and others\, nothing lasted longer than 4 years\, so he retrained as a Secondary PGCE Physics teacher\, qualifying in 2019 before returning to Electronics! \nWhether you are feeling fantastic\, empowered\, driven to engage your next challenge\, or are struggling to make sense of the madness the world is throwing at you\, you will certainly gain some additional tools from attending this event. Momentum has been described as “the measurement of success”\, particularly in the context of a career (Sinek\, 2011) while in its simplest scientific form describes an objects quantity of motion.   \nDave will speak\, using examples from personal experience where appropriate\, on how to maintain your job search momentum and share some thoughts on how you may develop a career momentum. Moving on from the teachings of Tigger\, another wise sage named Confucius summarised momentum with\, “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop\,” coupled with “The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” \nPresenter: Dave Everitt (Technical Sales Manager)\nTo join the webinar you need to be a Careers Springboard member. SUMMARY:Monday 26th Apr – Webinar: Building A Winning CV
DESCRIPTION:How To Make Your CV an Interview winning tool. \nThis event will help you to develop an award-winning CV.  The dictionary definition of this is simply “A CV that gets you to interview”. Once at interview\, it’s a working document forming a potential agenda for the meeting.  So\, it’s a critical and dynamic document.\n \nWhilst there are different versions of CV that Andy will mention\, at Careers Springboard our main focus has been to concentrate on the reverse chronological format\, which has generally been the more popular version that job hunters adopt when they are searching for another position.  This version is also well established and recognised in the market place too.  Our members will be taken through the good and the not so good of CV creation\, which will no doubt show a stark contrast about what helps to sell YOU and what items do not add value.\n\nAndy will speak in detail about the content and suggested approach that is recommended for each section\, enabling you to perfect your own document and increase your chances of converting more job applications to an interview. \nPresenter: John Pope (Trustee and CV expert)\nDue to unforeseen circumstances\, Andy Low  is unable to present tonight and we had to change speaker at the last minute. Not only did we find a replacement\, we have the CV Guru himself presenting tonight. John Pope\, who leads our CV Advice service\, will step in and tell you everything about a WINNING CV. \nTo join the webinar you need to be a Careers Springboard member. Register for free now. SUMMARY:Monday 19th Apr – Webinar: Changing Track / Transferable Skills
DESCRIPTION:If you’re looking to change role\, or sector make sure you don’t miss this webinar. We’re joined by a headhunter\, a coach and a previous Careers Springboard member who pivoted his career following the impact of Covid on his sector. \nThey will be sharing insights from their own perspectives about how to identify your skills to enable a new direction. \nPresenters: Robert Teale\, Sarah Clarke\, Oyvind Helgerud \nRobert \nRobert Tearle is a headhunter with a passion for career coaching\, who has recruited 1000’s of people in to high impact roles for software companies\, including IBM\, SAP and BT.  Most of his work today is with smaller emerging companies. \nIn 2013\, he set up his own consulting practice\, supporting investors\, business owners of Tech\, SaaS and digital firms who wish to make high impact hires.\nAs a boutique headhunting firm\, their purpose is to help organisations achieve superior outcomes.   \n29 years ago Robert was first asked questions like “How can I improve my CV?”\, “What different types of job openings might be available to me?”\, and he’s still asked these questions today.  Fundamentally\, there has not been too much change to the basic principles of job hunting over this period – what is significantly different is the ‘how’ and the application of digital skills to achieve similar outcomes. \nSarah \nSarah Clarke aka ‘The Work Happiness Coach’\, is a career\, leadership and culture coach. \nBefore setting up her own coaching business\, Shine Brighter Consulting\, in 2018\, she worked in the fields of employee engagement\, workplace culture and leadership development for over 15 years for various tech\, fintech and dot com organisations such as lastminute.com\, Yahoo! and latterly Simply Business where\, as Head of Talent & Engagement\, she devised the people engagement strategy that resulted in them winning “The Best Company to Work for in the UK according to the Sunday Times in both 2015 and 2016”. \nShe now works with individuals who want to find more happiness\, purpose and success in their work lives; by helping them either re-design their careers or start up their own business which align authentically with their personality and purpose. \nOyvind\nOyvind is a Platform Project Manager at Elekta and a former member of Careers Springboard during 2020\, who supported the charity by acting as Chair for one of the events last year. \nHe has fulfilled multiple project manager roles throughout his career to date in the travel industry and is representative of people who have switched to a different sector due to the impact of the pandemic on their industry. \nOyvind’s contribution to this event will explain why an industry change would be most likely in his former situation.  He will also refer to the experience he has gained working with recruiters outside his industry\, as well as interview preparation and interview experience in other industries whilst including feedback that he has received from these organisations. \nFinally\, he shares the journey he encountered in securing his current job along with the experiences gained so far.\n \n \nTo join the webinar you need to be a Careers Springboard member. Register for free now. If you are an existing member you will receive the Zoom link in the weekly e-newsletter. \n[maxbutton id=”1″ ]
