SUMMARY:Monday 30th Mar 2026 – Webinar: Speed Networking - TMAY (Tell Me About Yourself)
DESCRIPTION:N.B. This will be our last meeting this Term. Then we will have  short break over Easter and resume our Monday meetings on 20th April. \nAt our session on Monday 30th March\, you’ll have the opportunity to deliver your 2-minute professional TMAY and receive valuable feedback in small groups.\n“Tell Me About Yourself” (TMAY) is often the first question in interviews and a key opportunity to make a strong first impression. It’s your chance to clearly present who you are\, what you’ve done\, and what you’re looking for. \nTo prepare your TMAY\, you could use the following structure: \n\nYour name\nPresent: Outline your present/ last/ usual job; focus on key (transferable) skills; mention soft skills if necessary; say what you do well or better than others for clients/ employers; give a recent achievement (quantified if possible).\nPast: Brief overview\, focus on last 10 years\, highlighting 1 – 2 specific high-impact achievements (with numbers).\nFuture: The kind of organisation and role you are looking for; with an attention- grabbing hook (so people will remember you); identify how you can help (if speaking to a potential employer).\nReminder of your name and the role you are looking for.\n\nPractise your TMAY to achieve a smooth delivery\, however\, do not memorise each word. Pause before and after important points. Punctuate with silence\, not sighs or“ums” and “errs”. Do not ramble or include too much detail. Use positive language. Be concise and quantify. Do not speak too quickly. Adapt to the situation (e.g. time available). \nPresenter: Rory Fisher\nRory is our Chairperson\, a Trustee\, and a member of the Program Committee. After a 35-year executive career in the defence\, security\, and aerospace sectors with QinetiQ PLC\, he now focuses on volunteering and mentoring local businesses. He brings deep expertise in leadership\, performance\, and executive coaching to support Careers Springboard’s mission. \nHow to join the Webinar: \n\nIf you want to join our webinars\, you need to register with Careers Springboard first (Register for free here).\nYou cannot register for the meeting from this website. The zoom link for the Monday meeting is in our weekly e-newsletter which comes out on a Friday morning and Monday morning.\nIf you Register with us after Friday\, or you have not signed up for the Newsletter\, then we will send you the zoom link for the Monday meeting by email\, over the w/e before.\nIf you Register on the day of the meeting\, we may send you the link by email up to about 4pm on the day\, after that time we cannot guarantee that we will send the link before the meeting starts.
